Message from Chief Matt Murray…

Message from Chief Matt Murray…

Hi, I’m Matthew Murray, Yakima’s Chief of Police. I’ve been a police officer for nearly 30 years, and I’m proud to be leading our great police force here in Yakima. We believe that to effectively police in a community, there has to be trust—and trust is built in relationships. That’s why, since starting as Chief of Police, I’ve made it a priority to get out into the community and get to know people. If you see me or other officers in your neighborhood, we invite you to come say hello or just give us a wave. It’s our goal to build relationships and ultimately reduce crime. When police know their community and have earned the trust of its residents that builds stronger, safer communities. Communication is a powerful tool in bringing communities together and keeping them safe. This website is designed to help you find what you need. If you have questions, please let us know. We’re here to listen and connect.
